a formal apology

I would like to issue a formal apology to all my family and friends for my disappearance over the summer. For all the planned swim parties, double dates, lunch, shopping trips, game nights, projects and everything else that got continually put off and then just... didn't happen.

I started a new job at the beginning of the summer, just hoping for a fun change and something I could stick with for a few years. And needless to say, it's been so much more demanding than I ever anticipated.

HOWEVER, it can be pretty entertaining....
This is Betty Peek-a-Booty, Booty Betty for short. I won't waste time explaining why. She is our favorite regular. She like to yell at us across the store, tell herself how good she'd look in this or that, loudly proclaim to the other customers how cute she finds everything... and of course, stay thirty minutes past closing. She's a delight, that Betty.

Last week our sister and nieces came into town from Virginia, and as always, it just is never long enough. Aren't they adorable?? Gah. Steven and I agree that if our offspring are HALF as cute as them... we'll be lucky ducks.
One time, I decided to shake things up. So Steven bleached a chunk of my hair. And that's how we roll. Maybe next time we'll buzz a mohawk into Steven's head.

Also, favorite thing said in primary today...

Steven: "So the three wisemen brought gifts to Jesus. Gold, myrrh, and... what's the last one? Starts with an 'F'."
"FOOTBALL!"
"No, it's something that smells really good."
"Febreeze? Fragrance??"
"Starts like Fr.."
"FRANCE!"
"Franken..."
"FRANKENSTEIN"
"No... frankincense..."
"oh."

Seriously, primary is where it's at.

And no post is complete without.... dog pictures!!!! YES!!! i know you all secretly love them. i mean, who wouldn't?

summer changes

Well hey. it's been awhile.
With summer came many changes. And luckily for us, they were pretty dang good ones.

I started a new job, and so far it's been crazy hectic but I sure love being busy. It's barely leaving me enough time to cook dinner, do laundry, go to the gym, and keep up on The Bachelorette! So obviously priorities have been made, and dinner and laundry have been cancelled for a while. I know, what would Steven ever do without me??

We've been out boating every chance we get, and oh my is it a blast! We only have about two more weeks till FLAMING GORGE. As in a week long boating trip. Heaven.

Our puppies are loving the sunny weather, especially when we take them to play with the other dogs at the park.

We had a super fun and relaxing fathers day weekend. Lots of board games, cook-outs, and sunburns. But isn't that what it's all about? That, and fathers. I sure do have an amazing dad, grandpa's, and father-in-law... and of course baby daddy :)

Steven isn't a father yet, by any technical terms at least. But i can already tell, he's gonna be the best daddy ever. Until then, I think we have our hands full.

hope you had a fun father's day honey-buns! love you like cuhrazy.

the thing with tax season.

i hate it. i just plain hate that little sucker. i kinda feel like taking a tax return, karate chopping it in half, then chucking it to the ground so I can stomp and spit on it. Simultaneously. I was not designed for this level of monotony! I can almost feel my creativity shriveling up and dying inside of my brain due to lack of exercise. But that's not the worst of it. Everyon here is Mr. Cranky-pants. And Ms. Cranky-pants. And I've about had it up to *here* {above my head} with them. I seriously should be paid a fat bonus just for putting up with all their unpleasantness. Actually, with everone in general. Especially those who put our number under "accountant" in their phone, and butt dial us 20+ times a day. And the telemarketers all the way from india who insist on calling back over, and over, and over again. It is just not a happy time 'round these parts. I think we are all stepping on each others toes to be honest. these people in particular are going to drive me mad:

Dear constant-gum-chewer,
you are over 30. PLEASE stop pulling your gum out of your mouth and playing with it. That is disgusting, even when a 7 year old does it. And it's a bazillion times worse when you do. Just stop already.

Dear gym-stalker,
I'm not sure yet if you intentially go at the same time as me or not. But, if you didn't notice already, I ignore you on purpose. And when you come and run on the machine next to me, it makes it much harder to do so.

Dear mr. munchies,
do you even work here? Every time i go to refil the pop in the fridge, there you are. Munching. I'd appreciate it if you stopped hanging out at my desk to gaze out the door and comment on the weather we both know isn't gonna change any time soon. Also, those gift baskets of goodies people keep dropping by? yeah, i totally keep those on my desk on purpose. Just so you can wander out and see that i am in fact, holding your next snack hostage. I still haven't forgiven you for your april fool's prank of 2011. And I'm planning to make you pay for it for a good lonnnng time.

Dear ms. OCD,
IT IS STRAIGHT.

to my general male employee population,
you WILL survive if you do not know what you're eating for dinner until 4pm. you WILL survive if you do not get exactly what you want to eat every night. and you WILL survive {heaven forbid} you dont get any extra sour cream with your baked pototo. any future complaints can be written down, and thown in my trash bin. k thanks.

I think it's safe to say i'm a little cranky myself today.
maybe from the lack of sugar and diet coke i have been so devotedly depriving myself of as of late. I know, it's ridiculous.

maybe it's because i had to get up before 7am to drive in the ridiculous blizzard to south salt lake to drop flynn off to be neuterized. and as a result got back just in time to pippy-longstocking my hair and throw on a maybe, but more likely not clean sweater.

but PROBABLY it's because I'm going all crazy momma bear worried over ma munchkin baby not being there to welcome me home at lunch, and being all alone when he got his surgery.

Gosh dang it can I leave to pick him up now??????
yeah that's most likely it. Poor boy is gonna be in the cone of shame for ten whole days.

is it 5pm yet??

i want to buy a zoo

Firstly, I just have to tell you about the movie Steven and I finally saw this weekend. Because it was basically the cutest movie i have ever seen EVER. Has everyone seen "We Bought a Zoo?" For shame. For SHAME. First of all, it's the most awesome story of all time. Secondly, it convinced me that no matter what I accomplish in life, it will be totally lame and anti-climactic compared to owning a zoo. A zoo with tigers no less. Love me some tigers.
And thirdly, the little girl is the the most adorable thing i have ever seen in my life. It kinda made my ovaries ache a little. tmi? well, it's true. I challenge any childless female to watch that movie and not come out baby hungry. Seriously.
Steven and I also became offically part of our ward on sunday when I was called as a YW advisor and him as the YM second counselor! Obviously our bishop thinks our maturity levels are better suited to be with the teenagers. But we aren't complaining. Some people (cough cough aimee and nina) think it's funny I'm back in YW, considering i never went when I was in it myself. And to that I say....why yes, it is quite histerical. But your just jealous that I'm not your leader. so hah.

Tax season is slowly creepying up on us at my work. And I'm in no way prepared for it. I can't believe I even made it through one season. And I don't think any of my co-workers can either. I always thought working in an office would be a party. And then I realized not every office is going to be exactly like the tv show. I'm pretty sure if I started jamming the accountant's drawers and putting their staplers in jello... they wouldn't think it was too funny. Granted, we do ice cream cake for birthdays, it gives me plenty of time to make use of the $8 a month we spend on netflix, and I've occasionally recieved awkward emails from a co-worker that were suppose to be going to his wife. (His wife and I have the same exact name you see.) Those parts are pretty awesome.
I'm really loving that Steven works so close to home ever since he got transferred! I'm wondering how I use to survive without spending the whole lunch hour with him. Spoiled, I know. I had this dream the other night that Steven was Jim, and I was Pam and we worked together in my office and it was pretty much the most magnicificent thing ever. Except for that Voldemort was our boss, and not Michael Scott. And he fired us and sent us to Afganistan because Flynn went potty on his favorite chair.
That dream sounds so much weirder once I've typed it out.
Maybe my subconsious is really sick of cleaning up Flynn's accidecnts.
And seeing so many pictures of Voldemort on pinterest.
And watching every single episode of the office to catch Steven up.
Just maybe.

Also, Steven said something last night that just has to be written down for history's sake.
And because yes Steven, you are just so dang funny.
He looked at me and said, "woooww your eyes are like extra-terrestrial!"
A little hurt by that I said,"rude! why would you say that??"
And to that he replied, "because they are out of this world."
oh yes he did.
