April Conference

I can't believe conference has already come and gone!
I love listening to the messages from our Prophet and apostles.
They have such an amazing spirit about them. They truly are men of God.
I loved the overwhelming messages of family, faith, and enduring to the end!
Did anyone else watch Elder Bednar's talk on Saturday??
He totally threw it DOWN.
Amazing.

I'll be honest, my memory is the worst. I couldn't tell you who said what where or nothin.
BUT luckily for me, they print them all out later.
Overall, it was a weekend spent stuffing our faces, hanging with family, and playing with the pups outdoors.
IN THE SUNSHINE!
It's never spring officially until this weekend, I think.
Except that it's suppose to snow Tuesday, so....

Utah is just ridiculous.
Hope your weekend was as lovely as ours!

Valentine crap

well, we survived January. BARELY. It is literally the worst.
Luckily i was so busy at work that there wasn't much time left for sulking.
Lately, I've felt stuck in a funk. The worst kind of funk, too.
The kind that can't be dealt or reasoned with.
It just sits in the back of your mind causing all sorts of unnecessary worry.
And chocolate cravings.
I knew this time would come eventually.
I'm 21. no, 22 (oh gosh i'm 22???) married,
and not doing anything particularly exciting or meaningful with my life.

I know what comes next.
Except that.... guh.
I seem to be phobic over the idea.
yes, PHOBIC.
I walk past the baby clothing and get hot flashes and sweaty palms.
Kids come in my store and all i see is boogers, poop, and a headache.

is this normal??
I thought most girls get baby fever? And i'm stuck over here with baby intolerance.
Maybe i'm just terrified of getting a whole body rash that doesn't go away for 9 months.
Or having my feet swell two sizes.
or just being a hot sweaty mess in general for 9 months plus...
because it would happen to me. it would.
Steven definitely over-spoiled me for Valentines. He's pretty good at that.
We splurged at Tucanos that night, and went to see the new Nicholas Sparks "Safe Haven."
I'll admit, it was pretty adorable.
But why Mr.Sparks, must you always stick in something at the end to make us bawl our eyes out?
WHY???
That weekend i finally got a Saturday off (praises!), and we took full advantage.
We were in need of some serious vitamin D and clean air, so we trucked down to gorgeous St. George. Steven and his friend spent some time riding their dirt bikes, and i got to hang out with my two little bebes.
It was glooorious.
We also took the puppies rock climbing with us. Flynn was a champ. Harlee was a little wimp.
I guess that's ok, seeing she is still the size of a large squirrel.
I have had several people rave about this place called "Swig's" that has "the best diet coke in the world!!!" So naturally, we had to test it out.
And oh my, was it the best. I died a happy death.
Steven was a skeptic. But he can be, because he's hot.
Only problem was coming back. TO SNOW.
Spring can't come soon enough.
Also, if you are watching Downton Abbey season three...
please oh please don't watch the last 10 minutes of the finale.
SAVE YOURSELF.

celebrating

Steven and i got pretty dang spoiled last weekend. His parents took us out to tepanayaki.
Yes, the tepanyaki.
Basically the best restaurant on the planet. And as such, is saved for very special occasions.
This time, we were celebrating Papa Collins landing a big head-honcho job, horray!
It was a very rejoiceful weekend. For Papa Collins, and the Japanese steak. Yummmm..
Graham has decided to jump into a light-speed growth spurt. He has probably quadrupled in size since we got him. It's insane.
Flynn's hair is finally growing back, which means he doesn't look like a naked mole-rat anymore. *praises*

mothers day weekend

sick of all the dog pictures yet? I don't have any babies yet, so for now you will be puppy spammed..
Steven and i did see the Avengers. TWICE. yes, it was that good. Especially because 99.9% of the time, Steven refuses to see a movie more than once. It was a big deal, ok? And just so ya know, Robert Downey pretty much made the movie. Of course he did
this picture slays me. no, literally slays me dead.
we had a very nice, kick-back kinda weekend. we got to hang out with our friends friday night! finally! it's been hard to do lately with the two little munchkins. so basically is was nice to get out.
Husband suprised me with some gorgeous flowers for mothers day! I told him I wasn't really a mom yet. He reminded me of the two "little boys" i have. So maybe we'll just say i'm a mother-in-training at the moment.

Ok guys. I have to be honest about something. As of late, i am displeased with the fact that I have to cook my own food, make my own bed, and clean my own house. And I blame all of that on the new show we have been watching: Downton Abbey.

I've always loved the early 20th century in London. So many great stories come from that time! And it's where our pioneer ancestors came from, so that's pretty cool too. And now, there's this show. And I'm officially obsessed. Granted, Steven and I had quite the shock during the first episode... but once we made it past that, we were hooked. And big plus, it's on Netflix right now! Highly recommend it.

the moab getaway

Last weekend we decided to head down south for a little mini-vacation-escape. Cuz lets be honest, we needed it. I think it was to the point that if i cleaned up one more puppy potty accident, or scanned one more tax return i was gonna lose it. And Moab is always just a good idea.
The first day we went on a jeep tour with Santa Clause {yes, for reals}. I never thought I'd be riding through the desert listening to jingle bells, but i guess weirder things have happened. I also thought we were going to die a few times while driving up a 85 degree inclines. But we didn't. So that was cool.
We did a little hiking around some of the less-strenuous areas in Arches. Because when it comes to hiking in the desert, i'm a big fat baby. Poor steven.
Since the car show was happening while we were there, all the hotels were pretty much booked out. So we ended up staying at the KOA. I woke up at 2am one night to Steven peeking out our tent and saying, "hey, I think there is a drunk guy barfing in the bushes!" I'm not sure if that's a regular KOA occurance? But next time, I think I'll want a little more distance between campsites.
On Saturday we had planned to raft on the Colorado river. But maybe that is more a summer time activity. It ended up only being 75 degrees and with the 15mph wind... it felt like -10.  And the fact that our boat guide ended up being Mr. Creepy McCreeperson... well... things could have been better. It was still fun though, right guys?? Hopefully it will be a funny story in a couple years. Or just one of those memories we block out forever.
Other then that, Moab was beautiful. It was tons of fun watching all the old guys drive up and down the street, and occasionally peeling out in their vintage cars. Them, and the mexican's in their low-riders taking corners on three wheels. Good times.

stuff that happened last weekend..

Flynn got a haircut. or rather, a full-body buzz. He is so embarrassed. And we kinda are too.

My little sister decided she wanted to age another year, and turn 17 on Saturday. little does she know, that as soon as this year is over.... 18-21 {and possibly further, i wouldn't know yet} all kinda blend together. and before you know it, adulthood is smacking you in the face and you're and old married person going to bed at 9:30, and having to pay for things like interest on a mortgage. guh.

Steven talked me into riding along while he golfed with one of his buddies. Not gonna lie, the whole golfing thing never appealed to me. Trying to hit a ball into a tiny hole? boring. I'm more of a "smack-the-ball-as-hard-as-humanly-possible" kinda gal. The driving range is cool. or even better, hitting baseballs! yes. But playing nine holes.... bleh. no danke. So i sunbathed.
Can we talk about how amazing the weather was this weekend?? i kinda want to cry with joy. I almost forgot how much fun it is to be outside soaking up some vitamin D. We took our pups to a little park in Salt Lake where they can run and play with the the other dogs. Graham lovvved it. Flynn... was a little more hesistant. I think after three retrievers ganged up on him, he was a little freaked out. So he spent the rest of the outing refusing to be set down.

his tounge is gonna end up being three feet long, probably.
Lucky for us, we are only three days away from our next weekend. We are heading south again for a little sunshine and adventure :) I know, we are partyers. And it rocks.
